Abundance Affirmation #24: I experience the world in all its glory!

Indeed my life is one Big Adventure (see also Abundance Affirmation #26)! In terms of travel, I have been lucky enough to have vacationed in many countries; including the United States, Mexico, Spain, England, France, Austria, Amsterdam, Italy, Australia, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and my neighboring country, Malaysia. Even then, I am not quite down yet with half the world yet.

Well, the June school holidays have just started! It is time for a family vacation again! I will be flying off to…..Tokyo this time (see my Travel Vision Board below). I confess to being a big Disney fan, so I will be there to visit Disneyland and DisneySea.

While there have been many times previously that I have traveled on budget, I am going to be holidaying in a little style this time….flying on the Airbus 380 with Singapore Airlines and staying in the luxurious Sheraton that is situated on a bay overlooking the ocean. My kids are also very excited about the trip!

I will be closing the comments box. I need to go pack! See you back here in another two weeks

Abundance Always,

Imagine floating your fantasies wrapped in pink bubbles into the air and allowing the Universe to bring them in manifestation! Sounds like fun? Well, it is. However, more than just a game, engaging in the creative visualization exercise can apparently help give your dreams some lift.

(Pink Bubble Technique – illustration from my personal art journal)

The pink bubble technique is something that Shakti Gawain, an internationally renowned teacher of consciousness, teaches. Shakti has facilitated thousands of individuals in developing greater awareness, balance and wholeness in their lives.

How to Use the Pink Bubble Technique

I have been floating and popping pink bubbles myself. If you wish to do the same, here are the steps for the pink bubble technique:

1. Sit or lie down and relax.

2. Close your eyes and focus your mind on your breath.

3. Go deeper and deeper into relaxation.

4. Imagine something that you would like to manifest and that it has already happened. See, feel and sense. Picture it as clearly as you can.

5. In your mind’s eye, place this vision or goal inside a pink bubble. Pink is the color of your heart. It represents your heart’s desire.

6. Let go of the bubble. Visualize the bubble floating off into the universe, containing your vision. Tell yourself that you are “letting go” of it. Allow the bubble to float around in the universe, attracting and gathering energy for its manifestation.

Activate Your Intention

The following are some additional steps to activate your intention that I would like to include:

1. Say “thank you” three times to the Universe sincerely immediately after the visualization exercise.

2. Have a sense of expectancy. Refrain from doubting if it is ever coming true. When you put an order to the Universe, do not question if it is going to happen.

What Are Your Pink Bubbles Wrapping?

In her book on Creative Visualization, Shakti says that you can visualize for just about any fantasy that you have. Certainly, if we think about it, it does not cost us a cent or anything to engage in dreams. So why not be bold and just stretch our minds? The possibilities are endless.

“A new perspective. A thrilling adventure. Chocolate oreos in my fruity ice cream. Life presents an array of possibilities for us to experience everyday!” — Excerpt from my personal art journal

Now, let’s hear it from you. Your own private island? A movie or book deal? Guest appearance on Oprah? A sustainable green world? What are your pink bubbles wrapping?

Abundance always,

If you have been thinking of creating a wealth vision board, how about incorporating feng shui elements and pictures into it? There are many feng shui symbols for wealth, luck and prosperity. We can see them in huge display at shopping centers and stores this time of the year.

(A feng shui wealth vision board featuring images of a laughing Buddha, the word “fu” for prosperity and koi fish.)

If you don’t already know, Chinese New Year celebrations start this weekend and last for a period of fifteen days. Decorations in red, gold and yellow and sweet delicacies that promise to melt prosperity in your mouth are being sold aplenty!

While I am no feng shui expert, I do have some very basic knowledge of the symbols used. After all, I was brought up in an environment decorated with Chinese antique furniture, auspicious paintings and mythical statues for wealth and well-being. Just this morning, I decided to make use of what I know, plus some research and creative skills, to demonstrate how we can create a feng shui vision board.

What is Feng Shui?

According to About.com, “Feng shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.”

Feng means wind and shui means water. Good feng shui means good luck and bad Feng shui means bad luck. Feng shui is based on a Taoist understanding of nature and qi (energy), and the harmony between yin and yang.

8 Feng Shui Symbols for Wealth Vision Board

(A pot of money plant and statue of Laughing Buddha sits on a table in my home)

Here are some symbols or images to represent good fortune that you can use for your wealth vision board….

1. Laughing Buddha. The laughing Buddha (see picture above) is my all-time favorite symbol. I cannot help smiling whenever I look at it! Its chubby looks and large earlobes (to represent wealth) is absolutely endearing! The laughing Buddha is sold in many Chinese antique or feng shui shops. Apparently, you receive extra wealth points if you get one featured with gold ingots!

2. Prosperity. The chinese word for wealth or “fu” is often posted upside down on the front door of a home. The upside down fu when spoken in Chinese is “fu dau” which also means wealth arrived.

3. Fish. The word “fish” (or yu) in chinese represent excess. Choose the koi fish as a symbol of abundance. I enjoy watching koi swim. There is much grace and fluidity in the fish’s movements. And every koi is unique in its color, shape and size. The gold or bright orange ones are a hot favorite to represent wealth. A picture alternative to the koi is the goldfish. Select images of three gold fish in a bowl or eight koi carp to invite good fortune into your home of business.

4. Flowing Water. Waterfalls represent flowing energy of abundance. My parents have a large Chinese painting of a beautiful waterfall in their living room. If you cannot find pictures of waterfalls that you like, images of moving water will also do!

5. Money Plant. Consider having money plant indoors! Money plants are very easy to grow. At least in tropical climate. They flourish with little care! Be sure to trim away brown leaves. Any signs of death or ill health is considered bad luck! If you do not have money plants, then find pictures of them to paste into your vision board!

<font size=2">(Feng shui wealth vision board with words “prosperity growth” or “fan rong”, water symbols, a chest of gold coins and pot of lucky bamboo)

6. Gold Coins. Nothing beats a picture focus of a treasure chest overflowing with gold coins! During the Chinese New Year period, when you give three gold coins tied with red ribbon, positive feng shui is created for both the receiver and giver! Six gold coins is also considered lucky!

7. Lucky Bamboo. I like the appearance of the soft green leaves of the bamboo plant. Bamboo plants represent wealth and prosperity as well as longevity and good health. They are easily available nowadays. You can consider having a pot of lucky bamboo on your office desk even! Lucky bamboo enjoy warmer temperatures of between 65ºF and 90ºF. Do not place the plants in front of air conditioning or heating vents, however.

8. Fu Lu Shou. The Fuk Lu Shou (also known as Three Star Gods) is a well favored symbol with businessmen, executives and high ranking government officials. They also appear in many chinese holdholds as they represent the integration of: Happiness/Descendants Luck, Power/Success/Prosperity and Longevity/Health. The picture I have is a wood carving of the Fu Lu Shou I have at home. Most Chinese prefer them in ornate statues though.

Colors For Feng Shui Wealth Vision Board

Pick rich colors to represent wealth. These include bright yellow, gold, red, purple and green.

Digital or Cut-and-Paste Vision Board

The vision boards I created here are all made with my photoshop software for illustration purposes. However, you can just as easily spend some time flipping through magazines for pictures to cut and paste.

Where to Place Your Feng Shui Vision Board

The following 4 feng shui placement tips came from Marie Diamond and are featured from the Vision Board book:

1. Always place your feng shui vision board somewhere where you can see it, in your office, your bedroom or your living room.

2. Place your feng shui vision board where there is beautiful energy; definitely not in your cupboard or bathroom.

3. Have your feng shui wealth vision board in a place where there is life and action.

4. Be sure to place your feng shui wealth vision board at eye level so that you can focus on it.

Another 4 extra tips:

1. Hang your feng shui board at the entrance of your house, to usher in wealth.

2. Be sure to choose pictures of incoming wealth rather than outflowing abundance.

3. Place indoor plants at south east corners to up your wealth quotient!

4. Never put your wealth symbols in the toilet! Avoid having the representation of flushing away your good fortune!

4-plus-4 tips bring us to the number eight, once again! The number eight when pronounced sounds very similar to “strike” in chinese. As with “strike lottery”, eight is considered an auspicious number to attract good fortune.

Free Image Sources

If you do not already have the feng shui items physically, I recommend sourcing for images to have them on your wealth vision board. Some of the pictures I have used here are free from Dreamstime, while others are photos that I have taken (feel free to download them for your own use)!

Final Note

As shared in the previous year, the Chinese has a habit of clearing out the clutter before ushering in the new year. So this has been a rather busy period for me, not just with clearing physical clutter but subconscious ones! Well, I am not the only one hoping to start the chinese calendar year on an auspicious note. I have been getting requests from clients with energy clearing work as well. So if you have not already done so, consider spending some time on emotional release (read the posts I published last year on 101 Negative Money Beliefs and Cultivate Positive Money Beliefs by Busting 10 Myths). Thereafter, create your feng shui vision board

The coming weekend is extra special!! It starts with a double celebration – Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day – on February 14!! Let us toast to a year of prosperity, love and peace!

Abundance always,

Be Careful What You Wish For or You Just May Get it so the saying goes!

Seated quietly in a romantic corner of a dimly lit restaurant was a married couple in their 60s. They brought their glasses of champagne together in a toast. There was every reason to celebrate. It was their 30th wedding anniversary that day.

In a whiff of smoke, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared before them, hovering over the table. She said, “For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all this time, I will grant you each a wish.”

The wife clapped her hands in delight. She answered first, “Oh, I would like to travel the world with my darling husband.”

The fairy waved her magic wand over the elderly woman, who instantly found two round-the-world air tickets in her hands.

It was now the husband’s turn. He reflected for a moment and then said “Well, this is all very romantic, but an opportunity like this will never come again.”

He decided to bare his innermost desires.

He said, “My wish is to have a wife 30 years younger than me.”

The fairy answered, “Your wish is my command.”

She waved her magic wand over the man.

Puff! The husband became 90 years old.

Some Background to “Be Careful What You Wish For”

The joke above is also one of many that can be found, illustrating the phrase “Be Careful What You Wish For”. A little research on the web reveals that this phrase is used in a number of sources such as in the story the Monkey’s Paw; a classic horror story written by W.W. Jacobs, which first appeared in Harpers Monthly in 1902. The story begins with the quote “Be careful what you wish for, you may receive it” – attributed by the author to Anonymous. Thus, there is no telling who the originator of the phrase is.

Now, for the purposes of discussion on this site, let us examine this phrase in relation to intention and manifestation, as follows:

1. The Importance Of Finding Out Your Real Desire
2. Why You Get What You Do Not Wish For
3. You Have No Idea What To Wish For
4. Going For A Wish That Merely Satisfies The Selfish Ego.

1. The Importance Of Finding Out Your Real Desire

Through the many posts previously discussed, we already know about the power of our thoughts. Thoughts are creative. If we want to manifest something, we do so with intention and sustained focus.

However, on the flip side, it also means that we have to be very clear in what we wish for. We may end up with something that we actually do not want. While our manifestation can become a reality, it may also bring with it other problems and headaches.

Say for example, you see having lots of money, as a ticket out of your miserable and stressful job. You set an intention to start a successful business. Applying the principles of the Law of Attraction, you end up attracting truckloads of customers. But because you mistakenly thought that money is your primary aim, you do not choose a business that you are truly passionate in. You end up in a situation that you can barely cope in terms of hours spent at work, doubly stressed than before.

But what if you have set the higher intention of finding fulfilling work, something that you are keen or passionate in? Because you are good in what you do, you start to attract lots of customers who appreciate your work. You no longer see the hours you spent as work but rather as an extension of yourself.

Hence, it is important to spend time having a clear understanding of your real desire, before starting to make an intention. More about how to find an alignment will be discussed later down this article.

2. Why You Get What You Do Not Wish For

Far too often, we experience things and situations that we do not want. It is important to know why this is the case: what we align ourselves with emotionally are the outcomes we manifest.

Hence, if your thoughts tend to be negative and you back them up emotionally, you are more likely to attract negative situations. For instance, if you have been unconsciously been focusing on lack and worrying over your finances, your physical reality is not going to be one of abundance.

You can also observe if your thoughts have been negative by the words that you say. If you utter “I wish ______ ” in anger consistently, you may just get what you wish for.

3. You wanted Blue and Yellow But Got Green

In the book, The Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham by Esther and Jerry Hicks, it is stated that you will get all the results that you want, if you are clear about everything that you want. But it can be the case that you have no clear idea of what is it that you really desire. In your confusion, you are not able to determine what your underlying intents are.

Here is the example cited in the book. You say, “I want the color yellow, and I want the color blue”. But what you ultimately end up with is green. And then you ask, “How did I get green? I did not intend that at all.” But what actually happened was due to the blending of your various intentions. (Blending the color yellow blue gives you the color green).

The solution that is offered by Abraham in the book? Check with your inner Being. Only your inner Being can sort out the complexities of your thoughts. It does this by guiding your emotions. Hence, pay close attention to the way you feel, and let yourself be drawn to the things that feel good or right to you. At the same time, let yourself move away from those things that do not.

Allow me to share how I have been making some of my decisions lately. In considering my options, I ask myself: Is my intent/desire for the fulfillment of my ego or is it one that is for the growth of my Soul (love, light and peace)? Having a guideline keeps me from getting distracted and making a poor choice. I have every intent to elevating myself (or my Being) energetically and making decisions that align with my Highest Path and Purpose.

4. A Possible Scenario: Going For A Wish That Merely Satisfies The Selfish Ego

Ambition is a Dead Sea Fruit
And the greatest peril to the soul is that
one is likely to get precisely what he is seeking.
— By Edward Dahlberg

You cannot get it off your mind. A longing that hovers in your thoughts, day and night. You toy with your options. You try to figure out how to get the prize. At first, just a gentle idea, the longing soon becomes an obsession, a craving.

In your desperate moments, you consider selling your soul for it. Yet, deep down inside, you suspect that guilt will creep in if you take a drastic measure.

You finally make a decision. You cannot bear it any longer! The wait is just too much to bear. You are willing to take a chance.

You taste the pleasure, the thrill of the moment, the pinnacle of your human experience; the means gotten through the betrayal of your friends, the loss of your conscience, and the hurt that you inflict. Your ego is satiated.

You are happy. Then, you decide that you would like to share your happiness. Let others know. You go around with your prized catch. Your ego needs to know that others will be struck with envy.

But you find no one now. All of whom you have held dear before. They shut you out, just like how and what you have done to them.

It’s okay, your ego says. You have got me and you have got the prize.

So, you sit. At first, happy and then, dismay by the loneliness that now engulfs.

In the quietness, you finally hear a soft whisper: Is the sacrifice worth it?

Knowing arises: the gain of the ego but the loss of love and the shrinking of your Soul. Emptiness ensues. The prize has now become meaningless.

Your Thoughts Please

Do share your thoughts to the phrase “Be Careful What You Wish For”. Do you know what you really want out of your life? How do you determine these things for sure?

Many of us dream of going on a nice vacation. It may be a relaxing holiday in an exotic beach resort, visiting a Disneyland theme park or just an eat-and-shop holiday. If you ask me, I like the thought of them all. Bitten by the travel bug, I continue to have several holiday dreams; despite having traveled a fair bit.

Did I ever mention that Singaporeans are one of the most widely traveled people in the world? Once the school holidays begin in another month’s time, our already busy Changi Airport is going to enter another high peak period.

I share the same thoughts as Jeff from Super Charged Living on how it feels like to be away from home. He had written about things he love about traveling to new places in his recent post here. For Singaporeans, any form of traveling will mean going out of the country since there are no mountains to climb, lakes to swim or clear waters to dive in. Abroad, I enjoy breathing in the fresh air, sampling food from another culture and taking in the sights of some ancient ruins.

For a time, I wanted to be an air stewardess so that I could get to travel the world. The thought of being able to experiencing the world in all its glory was tempting! However, becoming an air stewardess then would mean having to quit my banking job. A friend gave me some advice, which I heeded to: It would be silly to give up your career prospects just to fulfill the wish to travel! The next best alternative was to make some money to afford the vacations. Of course, there is always the option of backpacking. But somehow, the thought did not occur to me back then.

Attract Money For Travel

Admittedly, traveling abroad can require a huge sum of money, if you intend to travel well. Going on one and with kids in tow can translate to a total bill that is in the thousands. If you find yourself wishing for a dream vacation abroad with your family but do not have means to, read this article that I wrote about changing your beliefs about money first. You cannot begin to attract funds for travelling if you hold negative thoughts towards having surplus money in your wallet.

My Abundant Travel Life

Our travel dreams are more likely to come true if we can bring forth the memory of how it feels like to be on vacation, while we make a request to The Universe/God/ Spirit Gudies. Hence, I am going to start off here by sharing about my previous travel life and recalling the enjoyable time I had.

In the United States, I have been to as far north as Alaska to view its ice glaciers and as far south as Key West to taste the famed key lime pie and watched its beautiful sunset. Disneyland was wonderful, although I would need to go back again and this time with my kids. From the U.S., I even flew on to Cancun off the coast in Mexico for a diving holiday with my husband.

Over in Europe, I have climbed Antoni Gaudí’s famous La Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain together with friends. I have also taken photos against the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland, Holland and Austria. The ancient ruins of Pompei in Rome fascinated me as much as the famous paintings in The Louvre Museum of Paris. Food and shopping were so good in London that I have flown there a few times.

I have visited a number of countries closer to home as well. In China, I have set afoot the Great Wall of China and visited the Forbidden City; in Australia, the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin. Beach holidays in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are vacations that I have taken every now and then for a short getaway.

My Travel Dreams

There are many places that I continue to wish to see. So here goes my top 5 desired country destinations and in no particular order:

1.	Japan – Hokkaido.
2.	New Zealand.
3.	Canada.
4.	Austria – I have been to Austria once during my University school holidays but promised that one day, I would return to such a beautiful country.
5.	United States – New York, Boston, Hawaii.

I feel happy and grateful for having had the opportunity to see parts of the world, outside my home. My intent is to be in a vibrational alignment with my travel dreams. I now send my wish list to the Universe, joyful in the knowledge that one day my travel dreams will come true.

My kids too have their own wish list! Occasionally, they take the time to pore over pictures of places where they would like to go to some day. They feel very much inspired to do so, after glimpsing the vision board on my wall.

Share Your Travel Dreams

What about you? Would you like to make an intention request to visit a place that you have been dreaming of? What are 3 of your travel dreams and what in each place are you hoping to experience? Do share in the comments below.
