Many of us dream of going on a nice vacation. It may be a relaxing holiday in an exotic beach resort, visiting a Disneyland theme park or just an eat-and-shop holiday. If you ask me, I like the thought of them all. Bitten by the travel bug, I continue to have several holiday dreams; despite having traveled a fair bit.
Did I ever mention that Singaporeans are one of the most widely traveled people in the world? Once the school holidays begin in another month’s time, our already busy Changi Airport is going to enter another high peak period.
I share the same thoughts as Jeff from Super Charged Living on how it feels like to be away from home. He had written about things he love about traveling to new places in his recent post here. For Singaporeans, any form of traveling will mean going out of the country since there are no mountains to climb, lakes to swim or clear waters to dive in. Abroad, I enjoy breathing in the fresh air, sampling food from another culture and taking in the sights of some ancient ruins.
For a time, I wanted to be an air stewardess so that I could get to travel the world. The thought of being able to experiencing the world in all its glory was tempting! However, becoming an air stewardess then would mean having to quit my banking job. A friend gave me some advice, which I heeded to: It would be silly to give up your career prospects just to fulfill the wish to travel! The next best alternative was to make some money to afford the vacations. Of course, there is always the option of backpacking. But somehow, the thought did not occur to me back then.
Attract Money For Travel
Admittedly, traveling abroad can require a huge sum of money, if you intend to travel well. Going on one and with kids in tow can translate to a total bill that is in the thousands. If you find yourself wishing for a dream vacation abroad with your family but do not have means to, read this article that I wrote about changing your beliefs about money first. You cannot begin to attract funds for travelling if you hold negative thoughts towards having surplus money in your wallet.
My Abundant Travel Life
Our travel dreams are more likely to come true if we can bring forth the memory of how it feels like to be on vacation, while we make a request to The Universe/God/ Spirit Gudies. Hence, I am going to start off here by sharing about my previous travel life and recalling the enjoyable time I had.
|
In the United States, I have been to as far north as Alaska to view its ice glaciers and as far south as Key West to taste the famed key lime pie and watched its beautiful sunset. Disneyland was wonderful, although I would need to go back again and this time with my kids. From the U.S., I even flew on to Cancun off the coast in Mexico for a diving holiday with my husband.
Over in Europe, I have climbed Antoni GaudÃ’s famous La Sagrada FamÃlia in Barcelona, Spain together with friends. I have also taken photos against the picturesque landscapes of Switzerland, Holland and Austria. The ancient ruins of Pompei in Rome fascinated me as much as the famous paintings in The Louvre Museum of Paris. Food and shopping were so good in London that I have flown there a few times.
I have visited a number of countries closer to home as well. In China, I have set afoot the Great Wall of China and visited the Forbidden City; in Australia, the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Darwin. Beach holidays in Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia are vacations that I have taken every now and then for a short getaway.
My Travel Dreams
There are many places that I continue to wish to see. So here goes my top 5 desired country destinations and in no particular order:
1. Japan – Hokkaido.
2. New Zealand.
3. Canada.
4. Austria – I have been to Austria once during my University school holidays but promised that one day, I would return to such a beautiful country.
5. United States – New York, Boston, Hawaii.

I feel happy and grateful for having had the opportunity to see parts of the world, outside my home. My intent is to be in a vibrational alignment with my travel dreams. I now send my wish list to the Universe, joyful in the knowledge that one day my travel dreams will come true.
My kids too have their own wish list! Occasionally, they take the time to pore over pictures of places where they would like to go to some day. They feel very much inspired to do so, after glimpsing the vision board on my wall.

Alaska….I see you in my dreams!!!!!
Melissa, Alaska is definitely an excellent choice for destination
May your dreams come true!
Evelyn
I had the urge to travel in high school to just out of college and got a lot of it out of my system in Spain, Italy, Portugal, Mexico, and Belize. I now live in the amazing state of Colorado, and it has just about everything I love in landscape and activities. I’m living in one of the most culturally diverse parts of Colorado, so I even get the richness of ethnic groups. I would like to see Australia some day!
@spaceagesage, Colorado sure sounds like an amazing location to stay in! Cultural diversity can indeed add richness to a place. I’m drawn to eclectic atmospheres and am guessing that I’d enjoy a holiday there too.
You would be happy in Australia! It’s lovely there!
Barcelona. I am very much wanting to go to Barcelona and to the Catalan landscapes of Miro and Picasso. I heard the food is great and the rhythms of the culture are wonderful to enjoy.
Very lovely to hold thoughts of that in my mind THIS morning.
Thanks for visiting me. Such a cute photo of you and the little one!
Let’s see if that vibrational plane has a channel to my dreams….
I want to go everywhere and see everything. That’s an adorable picture by the way.
Interesting site! I downloaded your ebook and look forward to reading it.
best wishes,
Richard

Wow! That’s quite a travel log. I love to travel also, and I keep hoping that my son stays with the airline where he currently works. I get flight perks this way.
I too dream of great travels. One of my dream was to travel first class. This was finally realized when my son got a job with an airline company and now thanks to him, his mother and I do fly first class.
My husband and I will have our 10 year anniversary next June and I think it’s very important to celebrate -why? Because alot of people don’t make it to 10 years of marriage. So, I would like to go on the Explorer of the Seas cruiseship and have a wonderful time of celebration and relaxation for 5-7 days in the Caribbean.
I’ve been talking about visiting Australia for far too long without having acted on it yet. Perhaps this public intention will get me off my butt and act!
There are lots of places I’d like to visit! Alaska, Japan, Australia, Scandinavia. And many more!
@Janice, I enjoyed the vibrancy in Barcelona. Thinking about this place brought back a flood of memories. Yes…I had a lovely time there with my friends.
Thanks for liking my picture. I was looking through my album of travel photos when I came across it. I thought I’d publish it. Min (my daughter in the photo) was so tickled that I put it up on the web.
May your vacation dreams come true!!
@WriterDad, I think the writer streak in you will want to write about all the places!
@Richard, best wishes to you too!
@chris, how wonderful that you are able to fly first class with your son working in an airline company. It must be exciting to travel in style!
@Mary, I’ve often read about the Explorer of the Seas cruiseship. It sounds luxurious! What a wonderful way it would be to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary! Ok…I’m only at 8th. Now where would I pick for my 10th? Thinking…
@Tom, Australia is indeed an excellent choice. Do you have an idea as to which part of Australia that you would like to go to? Perhaps, if you start to get specific and read more about the place that you would like to visit, you will find yourself on the next plane there….LOL!!
@Vered, a-ha…did you say Scandinavia? I’m going to put this down in my wish list too.
Hi Evelyn,
I watch a fair bit of Discovery Travel & Living, so this is going to be tough for me! So many places I wanna go (and revisit) … I guess if I have to narrow down to just a couple, perhaps Japan (Hokkaido) and Italy. Am planning to hop down to Brisbane, Gold Coast later this year with my girls, yay!
Hey Irene, it is great to learn about your travel plans! Brisbane is also on the drawing board for us too as we’ve got some cousins who have migrated there. Have a wonderful time and take more pictures!
Let’s catch up with our girls during the hols too, shall we? I’m just counting down the days when the exams are over!
Hugs,
Evelyn
Hi Evelyn
Travel is one of my great passions (along with writing) and like you I have seen a decent amount of the world. I found a real spiritual connection in Mexico and would love to go there for a month every year as well as travel to other countries I have yet to see.
Next year I would like to take an extended trip with the family – maybe a couple of months – before Bunny starts school. Not moving around the whole time. So far we’re thinking Thailand for a week (Musicman has never been), then the US and maybe down to Mexico again so I can get my fix and soak myself in the atmosphere for my final editing stage of ‘Running With The Dead”, and then onto Cuba.
But I would also love to return to Europe and see Southern Italy, Croatia, Czech Republic and Greece, so who knows.
Egypt is one of my top 5 destinations for my life, but I’m waiting until Bunny is a bit older and learning about it at school because then it will blow his mind!
So many countries, so many plans. I’m going to need to work on attracting lots of money!
Kelly
Kelly, hmmm…you’ve just given me more options to consider too. The countries you have named sound pretty exotic. And I want to do them all!!
Your mentioning Egypt is triggering something in me. You have a spiritual connection to Mexico; it seems mine to Egypt. I have a story to tell about this place. Maybe in another post. Nope…I have not been there but it holds some special meaning to my elder daugther and I.
It’s a great idea to travel before bunny gets into school. Yes yes yes….go get your fix and tell us about your travels on your site.
Much blessings,
Evelyn
I love to travel and see the world, Evelyn! You have been to some pretty fantastic places, and passing that love of the world on to your children – that’s awesome!
I would love to see several areas, including: South America (the whole rain forest and culture), Italy (again the culture), and Africa (the desert, animals, and to really see how good we have in in our daily lives).
I love the picture – you two are too cute together!
I feel blessed that I have traveled to many places in the world. I was actually on a plane last night. My intention is to backpack (again) across Europe. I also want to return to Australia. I intend to travel to New Zealand, Russia, Glacier National Park, oh the list goes on and on!
In January I wrote down 101 Things To Do in 1001 Days. I had a few travel destinations in that list. One was Maywood, Nebraska. This is a tiny town in Nebraska where my parents grew up. I am on my way there, today!
I also wrote down that I wanted to go to the Isle of Mann and my Dad asked me if I wanted to go there next summer as a family trip.
I am a firm believer in writing down your wishes.
@Lance, it appears to me that your top choices of destinations reflect the person you are: adventurous, sporty, fun, loving life! I really hope that you can get to see these places with your family. I’m sure that all of you will be in for a wild time!
Thanks for liking the picture. It was taken on the London Rail. Whenever I look at it, I get wistful! May the Universe/God/Angels grant me my travel wishes!
@Kristin, hey…it seems that your travel dreams are really manifesting for you! Awesome!
I am also a firm believer of writing down, talking and looking through travel brochures; even though a trip to the destination in my mind is not quite happening yet.
You know what? It’ll be pretty amazing that those who actually published their intention on this post get their vacation wishes soon! I’m going to do a prayer request tonight for all. Guess it wouldn’t hurt!!
@Stacey, it’s great that you feel blessed about having been to a lot of places.
You’d think I’m crazy. But I never realized how lucky I was all these years to have travelled a fair bit. I kept focusing on where else I wanted to go and forgot to express gratitude for the travels that I’ve already made. Hence, I wrote this post; as an acknowledgement of my abundance as well as stating my intentions and wish-list.
May you get your travel dreams fulfiled soon!
Evelyn
I would really like to go to Hawaii. I live on the East coast and would like to spend some time in California, particularly San Francisco. Perhaps, see Mexico. I would love to go to British Columbia, Canada. And I would so like to see the Grand Canyon. I have been to Europe and Japan. Though it seems odd that I have never been certain historic places in my own country though I have been many. If I could I would travel many more places like Thailand, Africa, India, England, Austraiia, and others… I have an exiting appetite for travel. Though right now to travel is not possible. I hope I can change that. You never know when an opportunity may present itself. Three years ago I was able to go to North Dakota and Washington State unexpectedly as a traveling companion of a close friend. It was a blessing indeed. I wish everyone happy travel blessings!!!
Karen, I also feel the same way. As I reviewed my travel log, I found it odd that I have travelled further away from home than stepping afoot in countries that are closer to me (like Korea, Japan or Taiwan – all of which I have never been). Oh well…I believe that there will always be a chance to see these places.
Thanks for sharing about how an opportunity can present itself. You know…you might have made a prayer request and not have been truly aware about it. Still, I’d agree that it was a blessing! And may you have more blessings to come yourself!
In light, love and truth,
Evelyn
Travel is something I dream of everyday. I long to see the Sistine Chapel in Italy, the ruins of Machu Picu in Peru, and the pyramids in Egypt. There are many other places I want to see, but that is my top three.
I would also love to go to Japan, Vietnam, travel Europe, Morocco, Belize, and Canada.
@Anne, your top 3 choices tell me that you are drawn to the exotic and the ancient. Excellent choices, I would say!
May your vacation dreams come true!
Evelyn
Evelyn, at the top of my list is Italy. In fact for some reason it just calls to me so I believe I will live there next. I toy with the idea of the location independent lifestyle but would like to have a home base. Other top must see places from my long list – the Rain Forest, and the Dead Sea. I look forward to hearing of your adventures as your travel dreams come true. By the way the picture is just breathtaking!!!
Karen, it is a good idea to have a home base. You may travel the world but there is always some place to go back to.
Oh yes…my travel dreams will happen…it’s just a matter of time. Thanks! I always feel that I have not taken enough pictures. I will want to do more photography in my future travels.
Stay tuned!
Have a lovely weekend,
Evelyn
Hi Evelyn – I love travel too. There’s so many places I want to go. First off, I would really like to visit Australia or Canada, as I want to emigrate and I’d like to see both before making a choice. Not sure if this will happen though as these trips are expensive for four of us and I would like to move in the next few months.
Alaska is also high on my to do list – it looks absolutely amazing in the pictures.
I wonder if it is worthwhile adding some of the pictures of the places you want to visit to your dream box?
I too want to see everything (except places in the middle of famine or war). I was lucky enough to have a father who was an international airline pilot, so I have seen a fair amount of the world. That has mostly just whetted my appetite for travel. What I’ve learned is that if you take travel seriously, you will want to do what the natives do, as much as possible. The only way to really experience a country is to see it as the natives do.
By the way, if you want to see Canada, I strongly reccomend British Columbia. I’m biased, as I was born and raised in Vancouver. I have heard that Vancouver is the third most beautiful city in the world, after Rio de Janerio and a city I’ve never heard of before. It’s certainly worth a visit.
Evelyn, by the time you read this, you’ll no doubt be celebrating the International Day of Peace.
Travel is of two types: visceral and vicarious.
Vicariously, through travelogues, documentaries, and foreign films, I’ve travelled to every corner of the planet, immersing myself in the cultures and customs of numerous countries (almost all, I would say), and what I’ve learned is that people are the same everywhere, at least at the basic level of life. We all share the same hopes, dreams, and aspirations. At another level, we are all unique, collectively speaking, and we would all do well to celebrate this uniqueness. Vicariously, through the drama of life and love and laughter, I’ve travelled into the heart of almost every people, getting a taste of their ethnography, history, abd geography. By far, my favorite vicarious travel of all time is Baraka – a most remarkable documentary that takes you wordlessly through 24 countries to celebrate the eternal.
At a visceral level, I have so far stayed within the boundaries of Canada and the U.S., but based on what I know and what I’ve seen, I feel drawn to experience some of the more remote locales on this beautiful planet: Iceland, New Zealand, the Swiss Alps, and French Polynesia. But I think the most interesting country to visit, for me, would be Ancient Japan – Kyoto and Nara, where some of the oldest temples in the world reside.
May all your travel dreams manifest for you, Evelyn, and thank you for this opportunity to share. Consider this comment my contribution to International Day. May we all learn to live in peace and harmony.
Love and light,
Christopher
New Zealand and Australia are both on my list. I have traveled extensively in the United States; you should definietly visit New York, Boston, and Hawaii (I love Maui). I am ashamed to admit that I have yet to visit Europe, but that is on my immediate to-do list.
peace,
mike

Viva Avocado!
@Cath, migrating? How exciting! I wish you every success in finding a new home that is peaceful, lovely and what will fit your family best!
I second the idea of poring over pictures of the places you would like to visit. What I also do is to check up travel packages as if I am already going there soon…LOL!! I also have every faith and trust that most of my travel dreams get answered. All the best!
@Tracy, lucky you to have an international pilot for a father!! All airflights for free…wow!
Totally agreed about experiencing a place as the natives do. I don’t join that many tour groups and prefer to venture out on my own.
Noted about Vancouver. I was already thinking of this city!! Thanks for the recommendation!
Hello Christopher,
I would like to express gratitude to you for reminding us that today is International Day of Peace. Thank you also for expressing so beautifully your thoughts on how essentially we are all One.
It’s great that through the various documentaries, travelogues, and foreign films, you have come to know about the rich history, cultures and hearts of many. I’d most certainly check out Baraka, since you have given such an excellent review on it.
I hope your travel wishes come true. You’ve made choices that speak of natural beauty, vastness and with a tinge of mystery (for Kyoto Japan).
Happy International Day to you and everyone else!
Peace to all. Light to all. Love to all!
Evelyn
@Mike, please include Europe into your list! You’d be missing out on so many places that are beautiful, exotic and rich in their culture. May all your travel dreams come true
Hi Evelyn. I am drawn strongly to visit Austria and Switzerland, specifically to visit the old castles. I’d also like to see Australia, New Zealand, and take an Alaskan cruise. And, living in Canada there are many places I haven’t been such as the east coast; Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia.
I’ve been to Hawaii and would love to return. The smell of the air there is out of this world.
Speaking of “out of this world”, if I could conquer my fear of space travel,
I’d like to visit the moon and look back at our beautiful planet!
Hi Evelyn,
Aren’t the glaciers in Alaska awesome? When I lived there I loved to “play tourist” and see all of it’s beautiful sites. Someday I would like to see the pyramids in Egypt.
I tremendously enjoy travelling to distant and local sites. Although I have enjoyed visiting Alaska, Hawaii, the Virgin Islands, Martha’s Vineyard, London, Paris, Spain, China, Italy and El Salvador, and many places in the continental USA, I still have a lot of places on my list.
My abundant travel dreams include these at the top:
Africa–land of my ancestors
Ecuador–land of my husband’s maternal ancestors
Australia
Greece
Germany
Japan
I’m attracting not only the funds for this travel, but friends around the world to visit when I’m in these places.
Hi Evelyn-
Thank you for the kind supportive words on my blog! It’s funny that you write about travel because being here in Guam we have been traveling a bit. Our next spot is Thailand and Japan and then as we change our duty station more of southeast Asia. We’re worried about my son’s food allergies and the language barrier at restaurants. We hope to hire a guide that will help navigate the intricacies.
I’ll keep thinking good thoughts!
@Barbara, you lived in Alaska previously? Lucky you!!
@Flora, great idea to also “attract” friends from all over the world so that you can visit them! Hope you make it to Africa and Ecuador as well! It is always interesting to go and trace back our roots.
@Dr Carson, thanks for visiting my blog too. I haven’t been to Japan but when I met up with some of my friends yesterday who have been there for travels, they said that they could get by with speaking English. As far as I know, the Thais are the friendliest people around. It’s my favorite South East Asian country.
Still, since your son’s food allergies need special attention, it may be a good idea to hire a guide.
Take care,
Evelyn
Hi Evelyn. Did you miss my comment?
Your daughter is super cute Evelyn. I think Japan is near the top of my list as well!
France is next for me though (after I go home to the UK)!
Davina, I’m so sorry. I read your comment two days ago and thought I have replied about the castles and traveling to the moon. I’m now wondering where my comment went and whether I have forgotten to hit the “publish” button. It happens to me sometimes.
I’ve seen a couple of old castles but would love to visit more in Europe. I’m not so sure about staying in one though; I’ve read that some actually offer rooms.
I’d also need to read more about the places you’ve mentioned about Canada. I just did a quick google. They sure sound interesting!
Going by your description, I’d have to go “smell” Hawaii one day too…LOL!
Hey…count me in for a space travel trip! It will be awesome to see Earth from a new angle and perspective!
May all your travel dreams come true!
Much Blessings – Always!
Evelyn
@Glenn, thanks for the comment about my daughter. She is really very cute but not very easy to deal with at this age!
Japan, France and UK – all my favorites! Great choices! May your travel dreams come true too!
I would like to see Italy and Paris with my husband. I would like to spend at least 10 days in Italy and really get to enjoy visiting the places that my relatives came from and learn more of my heritage.
I believe we will do this within the next year.
Wendi, how nice to explore your rich heritage! May you have a happy trip!
Much blessings,
Evelyn
I’m fortunate in that I’ve also had the opportunity to travel a lot, but there are still a lot of places I want to visit. Top three off the top of my head: Great Wall of China, Amsterdam, and Buenos Aires. Although right now more than travel I want to do things like skydive, learn to tango, and go scuba diving.
Hi Evelyn! I would have to say, Spain, Ireland and the Philippines.
Spain because I have ancestors from there. Ireland because my sister lives there now. The Philippines because I grew up there and would love to share it with my family (husband and three kids).
